Here are some that you should steer\nclear of until a later time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Hugging<\/li><li>Shaking hands<\/li><li>High-fives<\/li><li>Fist bumps<\/li><li>Cheek kissing (la bise)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Greetings Should You Be Using Instead?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortunately, there are all sorts of greetings out there that\ninvolve little to no contact. Here are some of the lower risk greetings that you\ncan try when you are on the go and meeting with others:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Elbow bump:<\/strong> This is the one that you probably\nhave seem the most people use. It isn\u2019t completely contact-free, but it is much\nsafer than a handshake, simply because most people cannot touch their elbow to\ntheir face. It consists of two people bending their right arms and touching\nelbows. It is still possible to transfer germs, but much safer than handshaking\nor hugging.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Curtsy \/ bow:<\/strong> These types of greetings\naren\u2019t in fashion like they used to be, but they are still used often in performances\nand when meeting with royalty. In order to bow, you lower your head and torso\nin the direction of another person. A curtsy is the female equivalent and\ninvolves a girl or woman bending her knees and bowing her head towards another\nperson. Neither of these greetings involve physical contact.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Namaste:<\/strong> This traditional Hindu greeting,\nalso known as the \u201cwai\u201d in Thailand, consists of a person placing their palms\ntogether with their thumbs at their chest. It is usually spoken with a slight\nbow of the head. It is popular among southeast Asian countries and doesn\u2019t require\ndirect contact.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Foot bump:<\/strong> A greeting that has been\npopularized by the COVID-19 pandemic is the foot bump. This is exactly what it\nsounds like: two people touching feet.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Other creative greetings:<\/strong> Other\nno-contact greetings include air-high fives, peace signs, and jazz hands.
